Death of Com. Thos. Ap. Catesby Jones.

It is with sincere regret that we announce the death of Com. Thomas Ap. Catesby Jones, of the United States Navy, who expired, after a long and severe illness, on Sunday night last, about 11 o'clock, in the 69th year of his age, at Sharon, his late residence, near Prospect Hill, in Fairfax County, Va. This gallant officer and estimable man, distinguished himself in the war of 1812; and has, ever since then, whenever occasion offered, borne the flag of his country in honor and in triumph. He was justly esteemed not only by his brother officers, but by the whole community in which he lived. High minded, honorable, and patriotic, he commanded the respect of all who knew him; and his memory will be long cherished by his friends and neighbors. He made his life always useful; and for several years past had devoted much of his attention to agricultural pursuits--being a good farmer, as well as a brave sailor. Appropriate honors will be paid to the deceased; and they will be honors deserved by a career of devotion to duty and love of country.
